Capital of the Peak District just a stone's throw from Haddon Grove
We're sure you've heard of Bakewell before!
The beautiful, historic market town of Bakewell is home to the Bakewell tart / pudding, which was made quite by accident in 1820 by Mrs Greaves, mistress of the White Horse Inn.
You'll be glad to know that Bakewell puddings are still made by hand to the secret recipe and are sent to many corners of the globe- from the world famous bakery in Bakewell.
Perhaps best known for its unique and delicious Pudding, Bakewell has many more tempting treats to offer - ranging from shopping and specialist markets to relaxing strolls along the river and special events throughout the year.
There is a monthly farmer's market on the last Saturday of every month- apart from Christmas (it is held on the 22nd of December this year, 2018.)
It is held at the Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell (DE45 1AH), most of the stalls are inside and parking is plentiful.
The weekly market is every Monday throughout the year.
There are many places to eat and drink around Bakewell, please see our pub and restaurant guide for more information.
